All Christians should give to the poor by giving to your local Church…. the goal is to give a tithe… 10% of your income… but you must start somewhere… so try what I did…. I gave $20/week to the church…. or a ministry like Crown.org. As my understanding and faith (and trust) grew, I gave more. I admit I struggled with this, it took time for me personally.
Give something… and make it your goal to increase the amount to 10% as soon as you can.
Why a Tithe?
God does not need your money… he has plenty. The purpose of giving the tithe (I feel) is your way of saying that God owns it all and he is in control of things in this world, Including your money! It’s a trust issue… you give your money because you know God will supply your needs, always has, always will.
Fact of the matter is, God owns it all, not 10% but 100% of everything you have. Everything on this planet.
10% should go to your local church. Any amount you give above that can go to other charities and ministries of your choice.
